Future ready – LWSD students receive top scholarships from Washington universities

All around the district, LWSD seniors receive prestigious scholarships from universities around the state.

UW Presidential Scholarship Presentation at EHS

Eastlake High School senior, Anastasia Kanakasabesan, was awarded the Presidential Scholarship by the University of Washington at a surprise event attended by family, friends, staff and well-wishers. The Presidential Scholarship recognizes the work of Washington students who have made a significant impact in their communities.

The scholarship provides $10,000 annually for up to four years, supporting the students' undergraduate education at the University of Washington. In addition to financial support, the scholarship offers a customized leadership-development track which provides opportunities for training, practice and reflection.

Two LWSD students have been awarded top scholarships from Pacific Lutheran University:

  • Grace Musser, Eastlake High School – President's Scholar

  • Safwan Hasan, Nikola Tesla STEM High School – Regents' Scholar

PLU President’s Scholars are awarded an additional $4,000 per year scholarship that stacks on top of the academic scholarship each student has already been awarded. Regents’ Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship each academic year. Students are selected based on academic achievement, co-curricular involvement, service and leadership, as well as potential to effect positive change and leadership in both the academic and co-curricular life of our university.
