EHS STUDENT PARKING 2026-27

Document of the 2026-27 Eastlake High School Parking/Driving Policy

Anyone parking on campus must have all vehicles registered with EHS and display a permit.

FULL YEAR PARKING PERMIT = $60 (a maximum of 2 vehicles per student may be registered).

Students may complete the online application for a parking permit beginning in early August. Seniors (12th grade) who complete the application and pay the associated fee are guaranteed a parking permit until the priority deadline. Juniors (11th grade) and those seniors who miss the priority window who complete the application by the published deadline will be entered into a lottery to receive a permit at the end of August. Students must be prepared to enter specific vehicle, insurance, and driver’s license information when applying for a permit.

All students who apply for a parking permit must meet the eligibility requirements:

Be a junior (11th grade) or senior (12th grade) at the time of application.
Have no outstanding fines.

To apply for a parking permit, you must complete the appropriate online application, pay the associated fee, and submit to a walkaround/visual vehicle inspection.

Vehicles must be properly licensed in the state of Washington, must have both a front and rear license plate correctly installed and displayed (RCW 46.16A.030 and RCW 46.16A.200), and must have proof of current state minimum insurance.

All drivers must provide evidence of a current, valid Washington driver’s license.

Parking permits will be installed by Eastlake personnel on dates to be determined. Permits will be issued to a vehicle and may not be removed from the vehicle to which it is assigned.

11th and 12th grade students who do not receive a lottery award, as well as 9th and 10th grade students may not park on the Eastlake campus. As a reminder, there is no student parking in the Safeway/Trader Joe’s/MOD Pizza lot OR the Dairy Queen/Starbucks lot. Additional parking may be found on the marked shoulder(s) of NE 8th Street and/or by purchasing a permit to park at Regeneration Church: Regeneration Church | Eastlake Parking. EHS and LWSD is not responsible for the process or fees associated with parking at Regeneration Church.

Parking Citations of $15.00 may be issued for the following (not an exhaustive list):

Parking without a valid and visible parking permit.
Using another student’s permit.
Improper parking of vehicle. This includes not properly parking in stalls (i.e., taking more than one place or blocking accessibility) and parking in restricted areas (i.e., fire lanes, bus lanes, handicap only parking, staff, and visitor parking, and along curbs).

Moving Citations of $30.00 may be issued for the following (not an exhaustive list): Moving violations (i.e., speeding, reckless endangerment) are subject to disciplinary sanctions which may result in the loss of parking privileges for both driver and rider.

This includes:

Transporting any person or persons in the bed of a truck.
Transporting passengers in the trunk of, on top of, outside of, or underneath any vehicle.
Not wearing seatbelts at all times on campus while in a moving vehicle.
Not yielding to all school buses, pedestrians, and bicycle riders.
Distracted driving (i.e. cell phone use)
Failure to follow posted signage on campus, including speed limit signs Accumulation

Accumulation of multiple parking citations and/or moving citations may result in loss of parking
privileges.

Fines for parking citations and moving citations will be automatically added to student accounts.
It is the family’s responsibility to regularly review their account online via the Payment Portal.

In addition to fines, vehicles parked without displaying an appropriate permit and/or parked
incorrectly may be issued a written warning and/or be fitted with a temporary wheel lock (“boot”).

Lake Washington School District Parking/Driving Permit Policy:

“By issuance of the permit, Lake Washington School District does not assume liability for any
property damage to any private automobile parked on its property. The owners-operators of all
private vehicles accept responsibility for their own property and agree that they are parking at
their own risk.”

Eastlake High School Parking/Driving Permit Policy:
All students who park their vehicle(s) on Eastlake High School’s campus during normal school hours
must have a visible and valid parking permit for the current school year displayed on their
vehicles. A parking permit is to be used only by and for the car and driver to whom it is issued.
The parking permit is not transferable and may not be resold by students. Misuse, theft, or loaning
out a permit may result in additional disciplinary action.

Cars are not to be entered or used in any way other than transportation to and from school without
expressed permission from the principal or designee.

Official school personnel have the responsibility and authority to cite students for unsafe driving
on campus, neglecting to have a valid and visible parking permit, and driving a non-compliant
vehicle. If you feel you have been cited unfairly, you have two weeks to make an appointment with
the associate principal to dispute the ticket. No consideration will be made for students who
neglect to make an appointment after two weeks.

As a reminder, there is no stopping (to drop off/pick up/etc.) in the front “loop” after school for a period of approximately 45 minutes. During this time, please use both lanes to exit campus. If you are picking up a peer or sibling, please do so in the parking lot. Failure to follow this guidance may result in loss of parking permit and/or failure to be eligible for a parking permit in the future.
