Eastlake Student Leadership
Link Crew
Eastlake works deliberately to create a welcoming and positive culture for students. Through our Link Crew program, students in Grades 11 and 12 serve as mentors, guiding and supporting incoming 9th graders through their first year.
ASB Leadership
Eastlake also has a traditional student government for both ASB and each grade level, and a School Senate that helps with school communication and provides students a voice in the continuous improvement process.
Eastlake believes that students need to develop the intellectual strength and character necessary for success now and in the future, as captured by our motto Wolf Strong, Pack Strong (WSPS). Eastlake embeds character education throughout the curriculum from the Grade 9 Health and Fitness class to Biology. The focus on school culture and “Servant Leadership” ensures students feel valued and connected. Our leadership students work to build school spirit and a sense of community that resonates throughout the school. They also incorporated their credo in all their actions and activities.
Student Credo: "Here at Eastlake, through intentional actions, we can create an environment where students and staff can safely fail, feel appreciated and feel loved. This is Eastlake. This is home. This is family. WSPS.”
Eastlake offers several Leadership classes: Principles of Leadership, Leadership 1 and Leadership 2. We also introduce lots of students to character development and the tenants of Servant Leadership through our Grade 9 Leadership Council.
Student Senate
Eastlake also has a Student Senate. The Eastlake Senate is a representative student leadership team. Senate has the following core functions:
- Advise the principal on matters pertaining to organizational culture and on urgent and emerging organizational issues
- Recommend additions or changes to Eastlake policies pertaining to students
- Improve Eastlake communication and culture
- Provide potential solutions to organizational issues and participate in the process of school improvement
