Out-of-District (OOD)
If you are interested in taking an out of district or online course, please thoroughly read the information below. Students may take up to 7 total out-of-district credits, and 3 of those credits may be for grade improvement. It is the student’s responsibility to track how many credits have been taken out-of-district. Students must apply for pre-approval prior to starting an out of district/online course.
Students electing to take an out-of-district course are responsible for researching their course options and completing the request approval process listed below. If approved, the student is responsible for registering for the course through the out-of-district provider. EHS does not partner or communicate with OOD providers. Any course-related questions should be directed to the provider.
HOW TO REQUEST APPROVAL
Step 2: Apply for Approval: Login to Skyward Student Access and locate the “Appendix C Request for Acceptance of OOD Credit” tile. Follow the steps to submit your application. Your counselor will review your request in Skyward (may take 5-7 days), and you will receive an automated email indicating whether your OOD course request has been approved or denied. Do not pay for or begin the online class until you have received approval.
Step 3: Request Official Transcript: Once the course is completed, request an official transcript be emailed directly to ehs-oodtranscripts@lwsd.org. If this class will impact your academic course placement for the 26-27 school year, official transcripts must be received by August 17th, 2026.
Class of 2027: OOD official transcripts must be received by September 4th, 2026 (the first Friday of the school year) to be included on your EHS transcript for college applications. Transcripts received after this date cannot be guaranteed.
How will the grades be added to the EHS transcript:
- Initial Credit/First time taking a course: the grade will be added as a P
- Grade Recovery: the letter grade will be added
- Grade Improvement: the letter grade will be added, and the first attempt will not be calculated it the GPA.
