We encourage all students who want to take May 2026 AP exams to complete the registration on time and pay for their exams during this period.

1. Students register for exam(s) via AP Central. AP teachers and the school’s AP coordinator will have the codes that students will use to register for each exam.
2. Students pay via Online Payments or directly to the school bookkeeper. Students can pay for their exam(s) from now until October 17.

An AP Late Registration window will be offered in February. Students who register during this late window will pay an additional $50 per exam late fee in addition to the regular exam fee.

Private and homeschool students will request and register through Juanita High School's website and pay fees in-person to the bookkeeping office at EHS

College Board Test information

All exams are fully digital or a digital/paper hybrid. Students will be required to use their school laptops to take their exams. To see which exams are hybrid, review this page: https://allaccess.collegeboard.org/accelerating-our-transition-digital-ap-exams.
Students must know their College Board account login information to participate in the AP exam. If a student arrives to their exam and forgets their password, they will not be able to test as there is no workaround for this security measure.

Request a Join Code – Starting February 24th, 2025, email Mr. Barrett at EHS-APCoordinator@lwsd.org to request a Join Code.

In your email, specify whether you are:

Enrolled in a class at EHS (include teacher & period)
Self-studying for the exam

1. Fees – A $101 exam fee plus a $50 late registration fee will be applied per exam upon confirmation of registration on College Board.

2. Make Payment – You must complete payment by March 6th at 11:59 PM.

Have your student log in to their College Board account to make sure that every AP class is accounted for.
1. If your student is self-studying for an exam, they still must be registered for an AP class.
If the class is listed on your student’s College Board’s profile (aka My AP Classroom), log into payments.lwsd.org and verify if there is receipt of payment for the AP exam(s).

If you have receipt of payment, have your student verify payment was made for the correct AP exam.

I joined the AP Classroom in September but my exam status was changed to ‘No’ – why?
a. As detailed in our instructions, entering a Join Code/joining an AP Classroom is just ONE STEP of the TWO STEP registration process. We cannot place an order for an exam without payment.
I paid for an AP exam during October but I got an email saying I’m not signed up for the test – why?
a. As detailed in our instructions, paying for an AP exam is just ONE STEP of the TWO STEP registration process. We are not able to place an order for an exam on behalf of a student on College Board’s website. Your on-time joining of the AP Classroom is essentially what puts the exam order in our school’s ‘cart’. There is no workaround for this on our end, and AP exams are an optional opportunity, so families are solely responsible for ensuring they are successfully signed up for the exams they wish to take.
I go by a nickname on College Board – is that okay?
a. In most cases, this will NOT work. The photo ID you need to show for your AP exam to be admitted into the testing room MUST match what is on College Board and most photo IDs show a student’s full legal name.
Does EHS let students know if they did not complete a step of the registration process?
a. Yes though this is a complimentary process and not a guarantee to catch every mistake as there are many reasons why our system will not catch a student/family error. The expectation for students enrolled in a college-level course is to demonstrate college-level readiness and complete this voluntary process independently.
b. For approximate timeline, we try to catch students early November in a very narrow window before College Board’s ordering system closes and we do a more thorough check and notification process before late registration in early 2nd semester to give students an opportunity to sign up with the late exam fee(s).
Can you check to see if I’m signed up?
a. Unfortunately, no. Last year, we had over 1,350 test takers at EHS and it is impossible to offer this service to every student outside of the checks we do around registration periods.
b. Instructions can be found on this page to check your own registration.

6. I think there was a mistake because I signed up AND paid before the deadline but my exam order status is ‘No’.

a. Email TBD with proof of payment (screenshot or attachment). It is viewable on my end the exact day/time a student joined an AP Classroom and, if an error was genuinely made, we will rectify to the best of our ability at the time of notification.

How to View your Exam Scores

AP Score Reporting

AP score reports are cumulative and include scores for all AP Exams a student has ever taken, unless the student has requested that one or more scores be canceled or withheld from a college. AP scores and any information furnished by students to the AP Program are treated as confidential.

Students must sign in to apscore.org to view their scores. AP score reports are available in July to designated colleges and universities, students, high schools, and districts. They are released to a college only with the students’ authorization, as designated in My AP (myap.collegeboard.org) or on subsequent score report requests. Although most AP score reports are available in July, some reports take longer to process due to late testing or other special circumstances (e.g., late arrival of testing materials or extra time needed to match student records).

NOTE: There may be other circumstances that could delay a student’s score. If a student’s AP score is delayed, this will be indicated on their online score report. Students testing late may have their score(s) delayed up to a month.

Purpose and Nature of Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP) is a nationwide program that is designed to prepare secondary students for higher education. AP classes provide rigorous, college-level curriculum in various subjects and the opportunity to earn college credits or advanced college standing. The AP program is made possible by the close cooperation of secondary schools, colleges, and the College Board.

AP Course and Exam Descriptions and the corresponding exams are prepared by AP Development Committees of educators appointed to overlapping terms by College Board and aided by assessment specialists from Educational Testing Service (ETS®). Each committee normally has at least three members from colleges or universities and at least three members from secondary schools. In addition, the AP Exam chief reader serves as an ex officio member of the committee.

With the exception of Art and Design, which contains portfolio exams, Research, which contains through-course performance tasks, and Computer Science Principles and Seminar, each of which contains a through-course assessment and end-of-course exam, exams vary in length from two to three hours and contain both multiple-choice and free-response questions; exams in European History, United States History, and World History: Modern also contain short-answer questions. The AP Exams in World Languages and Cultures, Spanish Literature and Culture, and Music Theory have a listening component. The exams in World Languages and Cultures and Music Theory also have a speaking or sight singing part, respectively. The exams in Chinese and Japanese Language and Culture are administered through computers.

What is the College Board?

The College Board develops and administers standardized tests and curricula to promote college-readiness and as part of the college admissions process.

Information about Awards of College Credit or Advanced Placement

AP Exam scores may be used by colleges in awarding college credit, awarding advanced placement, or both for a course in a particular subject. Because preparation for AP Exams involves work equivalent to that for introductory college courses, College Board recommends that colleges award credit to students who receive AP scores of 3, 4, or 5 and admit such students to appropriately advanced courses. Students seeking credit through their AP scores should note that each college or university, not the AP Program or College Board, determines the nature and extent of its policies for awarding credit, advanced placement, or both.

College Credit Award

Many colleges offer credit for AP scores. For example, if you earn a 4 on the AP Computer Science exam a college might award you 4 credits toward an equivalent course offered by the college.

Advanced Placement Award

Many colleges recognize that your AP scores demonstrate that you already know the material in certain courses they offer, so they’ll let you skip those courses and use your AP score to meet the prerequisite for more advanced courses. Letting you skip these courses is called granting you advanced placement.

Individual Colleges determine if credit or advanced placement is granted based on their institutional policies, and many have limits on the amount of AP credits they will award. Because policies regarding AP scores vary, students should consult the AP policy of individual colleges and universities. They can find this information in a college’s catalog or on its website, or by using the AP Credit Policy Info search at apstudents.org/creditpolicy.

IMPORTANT FIRST STEP - For late registration, contact Ms. Covington on or after February 24th 2024 at chacovington@lwsd.org for a ‘Join Code’ and a $101 exam fee + $50 late registration fee will be applied to your student account per exam upon confirmation of registration on College Board.
