Meet our Administrative Team
Chris Bede graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in English and Psychology, and then attended Western Washington University for his Masters in Education. He spent seven years teaching Humanities at Skyline High School. After returning to Western Washington University for his Residency Principal Certificate, Mr. Bede moved .9 of a mile down 228th to work as Associate Principal and now Principal for Eastlake High School. Mr. Bede completed his Doctorate in Education at the University of Washington in 2015. This is currently his 12th year at Eastlake.
Mr. Bede married his wife Courtney, a teacher at Skyline, in August 2006. They are blessed with two beautiful girls named Finley and Delaney. Mr. Bede loves to travel and has spent summers in Europe, Asia, Central and South America. His passions also include sports, books and outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing and mountain biking.
He feels fortunate to work at Eastlake, where a dedicated staff values each individual student and works to develop a challenging and engaging curriculum that prepares students for the future.
Todd Apple graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Education for Science, and then taught math and science in Blaine for seven years. While in Blaine, he was the Director of the Washington State Math Championship (grades 4-8) and the Northwest Math Championship (high school) for three years. He earned his Master’s in Education and then his Principal Certificate from Heritage University. In 2008 he transitioned from teaching to school administration. He was the Lynden High School Assistant Principal for two years and then Principal for five years. Mr. Apple and his wife Rumiko have four kids: Caitlin works in HR in Seattle, Maria works in Tokyo as a tech consultant, Kurt works for the Navy in Bremerton, and Karen attends Gonzaga. Prior to teaching, Mr. Apple served in the Army for 23 years (8 years active duty, 15 reserves). Mr. Apple loves to hike and to travel; he has lived in Germany twice and also lived in Bosnia. His most recent trips were to Japan and Hawaii.
Darcie Breynaert graduated from the University of Arizona with Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in Social Studies and Language Arts, and she taught high school for 19 years. In 2000 she earned Master of Education from Lesley University Cambridge, in 2011 she earned her National Board Certification in Social Studies and in 2017 she completed her Principal Certification through Gonzaga University. Mrs. Breynaert and her husband Bob are active members of the Sammamish community and have four daughters: Lauren is the Coordinator for The Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy in Seattle, Robyn is currently attending Santa Clara University, Grace is attending the LWSD Transition Academy and Hope is a Junior at Eastlake High School. Mrs. Breynaert loves to travel and is has a passion for outdoor activities; running, hiking, camping, biking, skiing and watersports.
Mrs. Breynaert is thrilled to be a part of the Eastlake family where she can serve and support students academically, socially and emotionally; creating a dynamic experience for every Eastlake student. WSPS!
Robert Johnson graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in English, Communication, as well as his teaching certificate. He then taught remedial through honors English at Cedarcrest High School for eight years. While at Cedarcrest, he also coached boys and girls soccer and was the KingCo and Cascade Conference Coach of the Year three consecutive years with his teams earning 3rd, 5th, and 3rd place respectively in the State tournament. He earned his Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction from City University and then his Principal Certificate from Western Washington University. In 2007, he transitioned from teaching to school administration. He was a Vice Principal at Edmonds-Woodway HS for seven years and then Principal at Evergreen Middle School the last four years. This is his second year at Eastlake. Mr. Johnson and his wife Aimee have three daughters: Caitlyn graduated from Whitworth University with a BA in Graphic Design and works for Dorian Studios in Spokane; Marissa is a Nursing student at Washington State University - Spokane, and Claire is a Senior at Glacier Peak HS. Mr. Johnson loves everything outdoors including glamping, hiking, climbing, snow skiing, and water skiing. One of his favorite trips was a 4500 mile road trip through nine national parks.
Dean of Students
Elise LaMont is proud to be one of a long list of dedicated educators who work and have previously worked at Eastlake High School. She graduated from University of Washington (2001) with a B.A. in Political Science and Latin American Studies, from Western Washington University with an English Language Teaching Certificate, and then from Seattle University (2006) with the degree of Master in Teaching. Before becoming a Spanish Language Teacher at Eastlake in 2006, Ms. LaMont taught English Language in Guanajuato, Mexico and at Seattle Pacific University. At EHS, Ms. LaMont has earned her National Boards and has served as the Advisory/Homeroom Coordinator, a Link Crew Advisor, a 504 Coordinator, and a Club Advisor.
Ms. LaMont lives in Seattle with her husband and daughter. She loves traveling, skiing, camping, cooking and gardening. Ms. LaMont is completing coursework for an Administrative Certificate through Seattle Pacific University. Alongside serving in the Dean of Students position, she is excited to be Eastlake’s Principal Intern for the 2019-20 school year. Wolf Strong Pack Strong!
