Meet our Administrative Team
Chris Bede graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in English and Psychology, and then attended Western Washington University for his Masters in Education. He spent seven years teaching Humanities at Skyline High School. After returning to Western Washington University for his Residency Principal Certificate, Mr. Bede moved .9 of a mile down 228th to work as Associate Principal and now Principal for Eastlake High School. This is currently his tenth year at Eastlake.
Mr. Bede married his wife Courtney, a teacher at Skyline, in August 2006. They are blessed with two beautiful girls named Finley and Delaney. Mr. Bede loves to travel and has spent summers in Europe, Asia, Central and South America. His passions also include sports, books and outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, fishing and mountain biking.
He feels fortunate to work at Eastlake, where a dedicated staff values each individual student and works to develop a rigorous and relevant curriculum that prepares students for the future.
Todd Apple graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Education for Science, and then taught math and science in Blaine for seven years. While in Blaine, he was the Director of the Washington State Math Championship (grades 4-8) and the Northwest Math Championship (high school) for three years. He earned his Master’s in Education and then his Principal Certificate from Heritage University. In 2008 he transitioned from teaching to school administration. He was the Lynden High School Assistant Principal for two years and then Principal for five years. This is his third year at Eastlake. Mr. Apple and his wife Rumiko have four kids: Caitlin graduated from WWU and works for Amazon in Seattle, Maria and Kurt attend college, and Karen attends Gonzaga. Prior to teaching, Mr. Apple served in the Army for 23 years (8 years active duty, 15 reserves). Mr. Apple loves to hike and to travel; he has lived in Germany twice and also lived in Bosnia. His most recent trip was to Japan.
Catherine Fredenburg graduated from Cal Poly with a B.S. in Liberal Studies, and then attended University of Washington for her administrative credential and Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. Prior to joining the administrative team at Eastlake High School as Associate Principal, Ms. Fredenburg taught middle school math for ten years at Chief Kanim Middle School.
Ms. Fredenburg lives in North Bend with her husband Chris, where she feels close to the mountains and yet can access the city life of Seattle. She takes advantage of the fantastic mountain biking, skiing, climbing and kayaking the area offers. She also has a passion for traveling as she has lived in both Mexico and Serbia and traveled in Europe, Asia, South America and recently trekked to Everest Base Camp. Ms. Fredenburg is excited to be part of the "wolf pack" where she can work with a fantastic group of students, parents and staff, dedicated to making Eastlake High School a community of learning where all are accepted and encouraged to achieve success academically,socially and emotionally.
Darcie Breynaert graduated from the University of Arizona with Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, Social Studies and Language Arts. Mrs. Breynaert then taught Social Studies and Language Arts at both the middle school and high school level for 19 years in Las Vegas, Puyallup, and Tahoma. While teaching at Tahoma High School, in 2000 Mrs. Breynaert earned her Master of Education from Lesley University Cambridge in Curriculum and Instruction, and in 2011 she earned her National Board Certification. While serving in Tahoma she was instrumental in developing curriculum and instructional practices, and led staff professional development. In 2014 she joined Eastlake High School, where she taught Humanities and was the College and Career Readiness Specialist. In 2016-17 Mrs. Breynaert served as a Principal Intern at Eastlake while she completed her Principal Certification through Gonzaga University.
Mrs. Breynaert and her husband Bob are active members of the Sammamish community and have four daughters: Lauren, who graduated from Occidental College and is now working as the Coordinator for The Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy in Seattle, Robyn is currently attending Santa Clara University majoring in Public Health, Grace is a Senior at Eastlake High School and Hope is a Sophomore who plays on the golf team at Eastlake High School. Mrs. Breynaert loves to travel and is has a passion for outdoor activities; running, hiking, camping, biking, skiing, golf and watersports.Mrs. Breynaert is thrilled to be a part of the Eastlake family where she can serve and support students academically, socially and emotionally; creating a dynamic experience for every Eastlake student.
